Charlieu. The Friends of Sornin now manage the pond of Gaces

During the last city council, Patrice Pavet, deputy for the environment, presented the agreement between the local fishing association “les Amis du Sornin”, the Loire fishing federation and the municipality.

The agreement aims to structure and promote fishing activity in Charlieu. It consists mainly of the provision of the Gaces pond, owned by the municipality.

“It is also our mission to maintain our heritage”

This project was born in parallel with the repair of the Bézo dam and the future road creating a loop from the campsite.

“In fact, in 2019 we worked with SYMISOA who, as part of their program, proposed the development of the site, mainly: creation of pontoons and landscaping to promote biodiversity,” explains Patrice Pavet.

“It is important to be a co-actor in this process because it is also our mission to maintain our legacy and this pond is part of it. For this reason, we met with the fishermen’s association to offer them a collaboration supporting the work, in particular, of cleaning and evacuating sludge ”.

Promote fishing activity in Charlieu

Depending on the viability, in particular, on the weather conditions, “this work could begin in the early summer of 2021 and finish at the end of August,” continues the elected official. This agreement commits the municipality to support this project and make the pond available to the association that will be in charge of managing the site for the practice of recreational fishing.

More generally, it also commits the Loire fisheries federation to support all stakeholders to improve, animate and promote fishing activity throughout the municipality, in particular through the two main facilities: the ice cream pond and Derobert Park “without killing”. fishing course.

For the federation, this will involve, in particular, supporting Les Amis du Sornin ”in the management, monitoring and storage of the sites, but also providing technical and logistical assistance during various animation events in Charlieu.
