For several years, the Federation of Hunters of the Loire, in collaboration with the Municipality of Marcenod, has been carrying out actions to plant hedges in the town. After discussions with the city council, farmers and individuals, several plots were identified to carry out these plantations:
In Montmain, almost 200 meters have been planted to prevent erosion and runoff on the road below. In Le Rivoirard, 180 meters have also been planted to limit erosion and protect cows from the wind and sun, and finally in Le Fay, around 80 meters of hedgerow to promote biodiversity.
This Tuesday morning, a score of people: hunters, municipal employees, neighbors, technicians began to sow. In the afternoon, the schoolchildren also planted about 400 trees and shrubs in Montmain.
The day was a success with 900 plants labeled “local plant” planted. The participants were delighted, ready to start new projects again next year.
These projects are funded by the Water Agency, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the Loire department and Saint-Étienne Métropole.
