snow delayed but orange alert justified

4:50 pm | Orange watch

The Rhone is on ice-snow orange watch until 5 am Saturday. The department is also on intense cold and flood yellow watch until at least 4 p.m. Saturday.

Very disturbed weather until midnight.

“The disturbance is there and it will continue to occur,” explains Christophe Mertz, of the site, this Friday afternoon.

According to MétéoNews, there is no real explanation for the snow “lag” except that the disturbance is moving slower than expected.

“The precipitation was less when we got to Auvergne and also to Rhône-Alpes. But the ruckus will be fine tonight, from this afternoon until midnight. After that, it will be over, ”explains the forecaster.

The white coat that was supposed to cover the Rhone starting at 7 in the morning, then at the beginning of the afternoon, is still expected in the next few hours. “The snow will fall but it will be confined to the foothills of the Alps and the Jura.” For the Rhone, mixed precipitation, flakes and freezing rain justify the orange ice storm warning.

For tomorrow, MétéoNews expects a real improvement with the return of milder, colder and drier weather with frost.
