Weather. The cold snap hits the Rhone at the end of the week

Winter is far from over. Despite mild temperatures in recent days, mercury is expected to drop below zero this weekend. This return of the cold is linked “to a mass of fresh air, coming from Scandinavia and Russia”, explains Christophe Mertz, meteorologist at Météonews.

Cold weekend

Starting on Thursday, February 11, you will have to take your jerseys out of the closet: temperatures, even seasonal, will range between -2 ° C and 2 ° C in the Lyon metropolitan area. It is the next day that it will spoil. On Friday morning, severe frosts are expected with -6 ° C in Beaujolais and more generally -4 ° C in the department. The highs will barely exceed zero, at -1.

But it is lower temperatures that you will feel because this cold wave is accompanied “by a north wind of 30 to 40 km / h, which will make the temperatures feel much lower than the real values”, specifies Christophe Mertz.

And the trend is not expected to improve over the weekend. In Beaujolais, early in the morning, frosts will be felt again with -8 ° C locally. In the Metropolis of Lyon, it will be milder at -4 ° C. In the afternoon, with a bit of luck, the mercury should rise and reach 2 ° C. A chilly Valentine, not to mention the feelings.
