The government published this Thursday a decree that extends from July 2022 the prohibitions on the use of pesticides in places of life, such as the gardens of condominiums, private parks, cemeteries or camps.
Since 2017, the law already prohibits the use of chemical phytosanitary products by communities for the maintenance of green spaces and roads.
Same prohibition since January 2019 for individuals and amateur gardeners, who can only use products of natural origin.
Since July 2022
According to a decree published in the Official Gazette on Thursday, these bans (excluding biocontrol products) extend from July 1, 2022, in particular to condominiums, hotels, campsites, amusement parks, commercial areas, green spaces in workplaces, educational establishments, health establishments, certain sports facilities (racetracks, grass tennis courts, golf courses, etc.) and cemeteries.
An exemption until 2025 for high-level sports equipment
For sports equipment, a derogation is planned until January 1, 2025 for high-level equipment, for which “no alternative technical solution allows obtaining the quality required in the framework of official competitions.”
However, the decree does not concern SNCF, a major user of phytosanitary products to weed its tracks and its immediate environment.
