“The works will not fail”

The Sougey estate dates from the 15th century. Many personalities came to visit the place: Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot, etc. The estate is made up of four buildings: the main building dating from 1460, topped by a Saracen fireplace, an elongated estate with a barn and two small stables, a large barn with a patio and a large oven surrounded by eight pig huts. Upon the death of the owner, Maria Favier, who was a renowned storyteller, the farm was bought by the Department and the Community of Municipalities.

The Friends of Sougey association was created with the firm intention of improving this exceptional site. “This important donation will allow us to better fulfill our mission of safeguarding the heritage of the Sougey farm. The works will not fail. We wish to arrange the interior of the stable to create a cultural reception place for students and tourists. We also aim to restore the house where, in addition to the roof and the frames, everything dates from the time of Maria Favier. We also have to redo the timber-framed facades, resume the electrical installation and create access routes through the courtyard ”, continues the president.
