Just one day after a Hamilton Mill resident returned home to discover her Ridgemill Circle residence had been burglarized, another resident of the Dacula neighborhood had a similar experience.
On March 27, Gwinnett County Police were called to a Carriage Glen Way home after the resident discovered several items missing. The man told police the burglary occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. The burglar or burglars, the man explained, gained access to the house by smashing a basement window.
The resident indicated numerous items had been taken from various locations throughout the home. A Kindle e-Reader and laptop computer were taken out of an office, $100 in cash was removed from a tin box in the kitchen and two cameras and a camcorder were stolen out of the laundry room. In the master bedroom, the burglar or burglars took several pieces of jewelry, a ceramic doll and a Browning 9mm pistol along with a fully loaded magazine. A child door lock had been broken in order to gain access to a movie room, out of which a laptop computer was taken.
In the bar area, the resident noticed a bottle of Jose Cuervo Classic had been moved from the bottom cabinet to the top of the bar. A pint glass had also been moved from the bottom cabinet and placed on top of the bar. The Gwinnett County Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to process the scene.
The total estimated value of the stolen items was just over $6,000.
The case is listed as active.
Two other suspicious incidents were reported in Hamilton Mill last month. On March 6, a resident was at home when an unknown person cut a hole in the glass of the first pane of a basement window. The person or persons who broke the glass were gone by the time the Autumn Sage Drive resident made it downstairs to investigate the noise. On March 28, a Hamilton Mill homeowner contacted police after her house alarm was triggered shortly before 7 a.m. No entry was made, but the woman indicated someone had tried to open one of the doors of her Carriage Glen Way residence.
(Editor's note: I have received multiple messages regarding another Hamilton Mill burglary on Ridgemill Circle. The burglary, according to the information I received, occurred on the morning of March 31. The police report for that incident is not yet available. I will post additional information when available.)
