Artists will set up easels and canvasses in two Dacula parks this summer as part of the 2014 Gwinnett Parks Plein Air Challenge.
The French expression "en plein air" means "in the open air" and is used to describe the act of painting outdoors. As part of this year's Plein Air Challenge, artists will meet in selected Gwinnett County parks -- including Harbins and Rabbit Hill -- to paint.
The challenge is open to artists from across the state. The top three award winners will receive a cash prize. The first place winner will also be recognized in the winter edition of Gwinnett L.I.F.E. magazine and will receive gallery space for one month at Peachtree Corners Library. The top three winners and seven honorable mentions will be featured in a three-month event tour at parks and libraries throughout Gwinnett County.
