Sheriff's Office: 'Got a Pesky Neighbor? Or an Ex That Did You Wrong?'

6/5/2014

UPDATED: Friday, June 6 at 7:05 a.m.

After previously advising citizens to take proactive measures in order to avoid an unplanned trip to jail, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office has offered another incentive to check the list of outstanding Recorder's Court bench warrants.
A June 5 post on the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Facebook page asked, "Got a pesky neighbor? Or an ex that did you wrong? Check our website to see if they have an outstanding bench warrant and call us at 770-619-6838 if you know their whereabouts!"

The post appeared to have had the desired result.

"This is too funny...but I do and I am about to search!" wrote one fan of the GCSO page.

"Well played GCSO, well played," wrote another commenter.

"Bahaha..I searched for a few ppl, sadly they weren't on the list," added another GCSO Facebook follower.

Of the comments, few people seemed to object to the tone of the post though one described it as "Tacky."

As of the morning of June 6, the post has garnered more than 157 likes and 86 shares.

"The post received an overwhelmingly positive response by our viewers, most of whom seem to have a great sense of humor," wrote GCSO public information officer Deputy S. Volkodav in an email to NGwinnett.com.

Citizens with pesky neighbors or an ex that did them wrong can check for Recorder's Court bench warrants on the Gwinnett County Sheriff's website.

*The original version of this story indicated the post had been removed. According to a GCSO public information officer Deputy S. Volkodav, the post was not removed but was apparently briefly not visible to some users, possibly due to a social media platform issue.
