Several talented performers took the stage April 3 to vie for the title of Mill Creek Idol 2014. The competition, presented by the Mill Creek High School choral department, featured 16 of the school's best singers.
Each competitor performed the song of their choice for a panel of judges including MCHS Principal Jason Lane, assistant principal Todd Drake and staff member Melanie Pearson. The audience had the opportunity to act as judges as well by casting ballots for the People's Choice award winner.
This year's competitors included Daniel Simonca, Andre Davis, Gabrielle Fomanung, Kylie Siegmund, Lindsey Saltz, Jimmy Casey, Andi Wantuadi, Summer Milner, Rachel Clark, Hannah Sims, Josh Jones, Audrey Shank, Abby Avery, Karina Korets, C.J. Walters and Jordan Throgmartin.
Jordan Throgmartin was selected the People's Choice award winner for his performance of "Break Even." Andi Wantuadi placed third and secured a $25 cash prize for her performance of "Next to Me." The runner-up and winner of a $50 cash prize was Daniel Simonca who performed "Music of the Night."
Josh Jones' performance of "Feeling Good" earned him the title of Mill Creek Idol 2014 and a $100 cash prize.
The show was hosted by Mill Creek Idol 2012 winner Stephen Day. Meredith Ashburn and Elizabeth Godwin served as co-hosts. Other crew members included stage managers Kaley Barrett and Cori Bishop, Parker Sarsfield (sounds) and Jack Sharp (lights).
