A man was trapped in his vehicle, pinned from his waist down, for approximately one hour on Friday, May 30, after a large tree fell on his vehicle.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Abbotts Bridge Road as the man was traveling toward downtown Duluth.
The man, identified by a Georgia State Patrol official as Amit Arora, 50 of Johns Creek, was conscious, alert and breathing upon being extricated and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville for treatment of his injuries.
"Though conscious and alert, the driver, an adult male, may have sustained serious internal injuries that were not obvious at the scene," explained Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge. "Paramedics continued to evaluate and treat the man during emergency transport to the hospital. He presented at the scene with obvious cuts and bruising, but his waist and legs were severely pinned. We continue to hold out hope that the man's condition will continue to improve."
The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
