A 5,000-square-foot space in the Hamilton Mill Village Shopping Center may soon have a new tenant after standing vacant for nearly three years.
A building permit was issued on March 13 for interior finish work in suite 340 at the 2463 Hamilton Mill Parkway location.
The work description on the new permit states: "Spec space complete, suite 340 (future Unleashed by Petco approved under BLD2-13-10053).
Unleashed by Petco was launched in 2009. The store concept, according to the company website, is "to provide the same knowledge and know-how offered by Petco in a unique, smaller package." The company currently operates three stores in Georgia -- two in Marietta and one in Atlanta.
Company spokesperson Krista Lamp indicated she was unable to "100 percent confirm" that Unleashed by Petco would be opening a Dacula location.
"Unfortunately, I don’t have any details I can share on the new store as we are still several months out from its potential opening," she wrote in an email to NGwinnett.com. "We never know what issues may arise in coming months so although I wish I could confirm, I can’t as of right now."
Suite 340 is the former home of Blockbuster Hamilton Mill that closed in 2011. The suite is the third largest in the shopping center which is anchored by the 56,146-square-foot Publix. The second largest suite -- at 6,000 square feet -- is the space formerly occupied by Dos Copas.
