A Dacula singer and songwriter pays homage to his home town in a recently released song.
"Where I Grew Up (Dacula Anthem)" by Chris Hamrick includes mention of Harbins Road, Hebron Church, Kilgore's and the antique store his father used to operate downtown.
The song was released as a free download after Hamrick's fans helped him reach 800 likes on the Chris Hamrick Music Facebook page. The song is one of several on his new CD "Mama's Boy," set for release later this month.
According to Hamrick, most of his songs were written while he was deployed overseas in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Hamrick began playing shows in Virginia and is now playing Georgia venues as well.
His next scheduled local appearance will be on April 26 at 7 p.m. at Friends Sport Grill in Dacula. The event is a release party for his new CD. Other upcoming shows include one on May 2 at Wild Bill's in Duluth and on May 3 at the Hail Mary Sports Pub in Grayson. A complete listing of upcoming Chris Hamrick shows is online at Reverbnation.
