Beginning at noon on Friday, May 23, and continuing through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, there will essentially be no construction-related lane closures on any Georgia interstate or primary state route in order to ease Memorial Day weekend traffic congestion.
GDOT notes some work may continue on lesser-traveled state and local system roads and that incident or emergency maintenance-related lane closures could become necessary on any route.
For real-time traffic and travel information, call 511. Callers may also transfer to operators to request assistance or to report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If your Memorial Day weekend plans will take you out of northern Gwinnett County, the Georgia Department of Transportation has some good news for you. All construction projects across northeast Georgia will be scaled back for the holiday weekend.
