Residents in Dacula, Buford and as far away as Atlanta reported feeling tremors from a 4.1-magnitude earthquake that struck in South Carolina around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.
The earthquake's epicenter was near Edgefield, S.C. according to the United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) Earthquake Information Center. There were no reports of serious damage.
Though earthquakes in this region tend to be less severe than those on the west coast, they are often felt over a much larger area. A 4.0-magnitude quake in the eastern United States can typically be felt as far as 60 miles from its epicenter.
