The 21st annual Dacula Memorial Day parade took place Monday, May 26, in downtown Dacula. This year's parade included 160 entries and more than 200 participants. Thousands of spectators lined Dacula Road to watch veterans, military vehicles, bands, antique cars, pageant queens and more (see video highlights below).
This year's parade also included a tribute to Marine Staff Sgt. Reckless, Korean War hero horse and a performance by Taylor Bahin from season 11 of American Idol.
A Dacula tradition since 1994, the parade, according to founder Marvin Atherton, typically attracts 10,000-12,000 spectators.
Korean War horse Sgt. Reckless is credited with transporting wounded soldiers and almost five tons of ammunition during the five-day Battle of Outpost Vegas in March of 1953. This year's parade included a tribute to the war hero who was buried with full military honors in 1968 at Camp Pendleton. Credit: Craig Reed
