Barbecue Competition, ArchaeoBus Visit, 'Cinema Under the Stars' and More Events Taking Place This Weekend
Numerous events are scheduled for this weekend in and near Buford and Dacula. On Friday, the Braselton Farmers' Market opens for the 2014 season and Buford's "Cinema Under the Stars" and food truck Fridays begins. Saturday events include a barbecue competition, car show, safety superhero training and more.

A Dacula singer and songwriter pays homage to his home town in a recently released song.
"Where I Grew Up (Dacula Anthem)" by Chris Hamrick includes mention of Harbins Road, Hebron Church, Kilgore's and the antique store his father used to operate downtown.
The song was released as a free download after Hamrick's fans helped him reach 800 likes on the Chris Hamrick Music Facebook page. The song is one of several on his new CD "Mama's Boy," set for release later this month.

Several talented performers took the stage April 3 to vie for the title of Mill Creek Idol 2014. The competition, presented by the Mill Creek High School choral department, featured 16 of the school's best singers.
Each competitor performed the song of their choice for a panel of judges including MCHS Principal Jason Lane, assistant principal Todd Drake and staff member Melanie Pearson. The audience had the opportunity to act as judges as well by casting ballots for the People's Choice award winner.
