Retired U.S. Postal Service worker Eddie Beard said he was shocked when he realized he had won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery's 20th Anniversary Extravaganza game.
“I wanted to go to sleep, but I was excited, of course," he said.
Beard, 71, retired two years ago and does not yet have any plans for his windfall.
Beard purchased his winning ticket from Wee Willy's #0007, 1875 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Buford.
The Georgia Lottery's 20th Anniversary Extravaganza is an instant game with top prizes of $1 million and $5 million. Players can enter non-winning tickets into the 20th Anniversary Extravaganza Extra Chance Promotion for a second chance to win $5 million.
